Problem using layers in Animate

I have created multiple layers in animate each with a different body part. My idea was to move a part on a layer and keframe my way through moving the body. Unfortunately trying to grab a layer results in the wrong layer moving. IS this the wrong program for ewhat I need (I guess it's like using paper cut outs and animating them.) As you can no doubt tell I am brand new to animate but this consistently highlighting the wrong layer is very frustration.

Kind Regards

Stuart

Thank you Nicktendo for replying .I've erased everything and am starting again.

I'll try to post a video of the problem if it does it again.

I've also changed the canvas size in photoshop of the wordt offending png.I've now learned to try parenting the parts which has helped although  I also messed up there which is why I have gone bacck to the drawing board.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Stuart,

That is how it is done.

The problem with the selection might be caused by your artwork. If you have imported PNGs with large bounding boxes that overlap, you may need to convert each body part to a Graphic Symbol and then mask the bitmap, so that only the part that is revealed by the mask is clickable.

From your description it is quite difficult to know what exactly the problem is, but if you like, have a look at this detailed step-by-step guide how this kind of setup should be done. You can also download the rabbit to study it.

Thank you for your superfast and very helpful reply!

    It has helped a lot!

I did indeed use png files. Is their a better format to import images to animate?

    Kind Regards
