Responsive homepage slider

Hi,

I need to create a responsive image slider for a website homepage.

The slider needs to include a background image, text and a button which links to different pages on the site.

I'm thinking initially 3 slides in the project.

I've done this lots of times with jquery and Wordpress plugins.

I'm wondering if since I'm paying for Animate, I can use it to create my own sliders and banner ads of all sizes for websites.

The first project I want to do is 100% browser width and 400px high (proportionally).

Are there any tutorials someone can direct me too please?

Yeah, Bootstrap is pretty cool but I was trying to stay away from frameworks like that.

What's wrong with just your own HTML and CSS? Those sites are much lighter and quicker to load I find. Bootstrap, Wordpress or whatever are sooooo heavy.


Yes, I always recommend learning JavaScript and Jquery. It really is a must in our industry. It is not really hard and yes you could make your own stuff but there are a lot a scripts out there and tutorials and my policy is: "Why reinvent the wheel?"

as3 or html5.

if as3, use google to search for tutorials.  there are plenty.

if html5, you can still use google but it's less likely you'll find something but it's pretty easy to build your own slider using animate and jquery, if you already know jquery.

Hi and thanks for replying.

I have used Jquery many times for sliders . . . without having to edit the jquery file.

Obviously pre-made sliders which I just add my own content to.

But I'm curious about using animate to do this because A) I'm paying for it so why not use it and B) I'm hoping it will give me more scope for producing something different and more original.

Do you know of any documentation for creating HTML5 sliders with Animate.

I've tried googling it but come across a few blind allies / roads that lead to nowhere . . .

Bootstrap has a nice one too, btw and very easy to implement if you want something fast.
