Question

Saved file yesterday - Today the file has none of my progress

I have a large animation I've been working on in Animate 2019cc. Yesterday I thought I'd try out Animate 2022. I downloaded it and loaded up my animation with no complications. I created a new scene and worked on it for hours. I saved the file, not as a new file, and closed the program. It had saved perfectly fine, with no errors or program crashes. Today I loaded up the file and the new scene I created is gone. This is the same exact file I saved - the time stamp even tells me I last worked on it yesterday.

I do have autosave on, but since the file was saved manually there's no recovery file. All my progress is just gone as if I hadn't even created and spent a day's worth of work on it.

I have the same issue with Animate 2022. But it's usually the last 10-30 minutes of work not saved. I work all day on a file saving often and when I close up the file at the end of the day I change the version number and the file saves with no issues and the next morning usually a few symbols have the old temperary art in them, the art I did the day before is missing. This also happens with moving keyframes in the timeline, if I move some keyframes at the end of a work session the next morning it's back to it's original place. This happens so often that I just redo the work and move on. I wish there was a fix for this! Lately I am afraid to close the file so I just keep it open so I don't have to redo as much work.

do some troubleshooting and save with increasing version numbers frequently.  it's not unusual for me to finish a project with hundreds of versions (though there's no need to save older versions after computer restarts):

anyway, save as (say), whatever_vxxx.fla and then save as whatever_vyyy.fla.  open whatever_vxxx.fla.

is the older (by a few seconds) whatever_vxxx.fla the same as the current whatever_vyyy.fla?  if so, close both, close animate and restart animate.  are they both still the same?  if so, restart your computer after closing everything properly.  are they both still the same?  if so, check again the next morning.  are they still the same?

I always save multiple versions and I change the whole file name when this error occurs hoping to break the spell. I'm on version V064 on this file right now. I'm go up a V# every few hours. I also constantly save, every minute because flash crashes so much. I'll try your suggestion when I have some free time.

learn to save your fla files frequently with an increasing version number appended to the file name.  ie, for project1.fla save as project1_v000.fla (and change the output file to project1), project1_v001.fla etc.
