sound files missing from library when I open .fla file

Question

I opened a .fla file I hadn't worked on since August.

I didn't touch it and ran test movie.

It immediately threw an error Error #2068: saying a sound wasn't loaded.

When I found the sound file in question and looked in the library in Animate the sound file is listed correctly in the library BUT there is no waveform and instead it says in grey writing (where the waveform should be ) Sound not loaded.

If you click where the waveform should be a dialogue opens up and says"

This applies to all 170 sound files in the .fla BOTH .aif and .wav files.

This is a nightmare.

Does anyone know why this happened?

Going just by what you said, it looks like your files got corrupted somehow. Do you know of any crash, malware, power outage that could have caused this? I am glad that you have a backup and you are safe, but this is what i can think of at least.

Also, if there is any other application that you open these sound files with, can you try opening them in that software just to be sure that your files are definitely not working?

I have numerous back up copies of this file. All with same unloaded sound files.

I do have a previous version saved and the sound files Eem ok there so will drag from that library into latest file and replace existing items should be a relatively quick way to sort.

Bit still need to know what happened and how to stop it.
