Switching From Frames

Hello,

I am currently having trouble switching from frame to frame in Adobe Animate CC.

I have a Macbook Pro and recently had a chat with one of the staff members here at Adobe. We did not resolve the problem.

The problem is that it is not allowing me to go to go to the next frame, both manually clicking and the keyboard shortcuts (period, comma).

I have reinstalled the program and it is up to date.

The program only lets me draw on the first frame, therefore no allowing me to make an animation. I have spent quite a while trying to figure it out, but sadly to no result.

I use the "animator" workspace and have my own layout (don't know if that is affecting it).

It would be a great help if someone could help me out as I am running late on three animations.

    Hi Rory,

    It sounds like you only have one frame in your timeline. When you start with a new file in Animate, there is only one layer and one frame in that layer. This tutorial should help to explain how to use the timeline: Get to know the Timeline

    It sounds like you only have one frame in your timeline. When you start with a new file in Animate, there is only one layer and one frame in that layer. This tutorial should help to explain how to use the timeline: Get to know the Timeline

    Thanks Very much Rob, I actually use figured it out. I don't know why, but it works when i press F6 instead of F5. Maybe I'm just getting my keyframes and frames mixed up. Thanks anyway, I will still take a look at the tutorial

    Hi Rory,

    F5 adds a frame to the timeline at the place in the timeline where the playback head is. F6 adds a keyframe. If you have a particular frame selected in a layer, then F6 will convert that frame to a keyframe. If you have a particular frame selected in a layer and hit F5, then a frame will be added to only that layer. Shift F5 or F6 is the inverse of each of those commands, it will remove a frame or a keyframe.

    In any case, if you're just starting out, be sure to go through the tutorials. They will provide you with a lot of useful information.
