Symbol moves from base position when trying to create motion tween

Hi all-

I have a weird thing happening that I hope someone can help fix.  My project has butterflies that are movie clip symbols, so that it looks like their wings are fluttering, and then I want to move them in the main scene, so it looks like they are flying around.  I have created a motion tween in the timeline, but when I select the butterfly and move it, it does not stay where I move it.  If I try to manipulate it or the motion path in any way it reverts to a position of x=0, y=0 and even if I undo whatever commands I have given it stays in that position rather than reverting back to where it was originally placed. And even weirder the motion path also changes positions and ends up no where near the symbol at x=451.9, y=1368.1.  Any ideas?  Thanks everyone!

PS Tried to attach file but got this message:

The attachment's foradobe.fla content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed.

Which is weird because the content should definitely fit the extension.  In any event, if you would like to see the file I can get it to you in another way.  Thanks in advance for any help!
