The Animate Pencil is shifting

Hi everyone 🙂

I'm facing a problem since a while now, and I'd hoped someone here have the solution.

The pencil in Animate isn't working like the Flash's one. By that, I mean that it's shifting and smoothing in a very different way, making drawing impossible.

We tried a lot of different approaches: Checking the Windows Ink parameters, checking if the pencil is really in the Ink mode, scaling at 100%, display proprieties... nothing works.

Weird thing though, it works well when drawing outside of symbols, but the moment you create a symbol and/or drawing inside, the shifting is huge.

If anyone has a guess, a solution...

Just to confirm what @Maelle35649336t51d has reported here.

I experience the same on my Win 10 machine with only one monitor, display scaling at 100%, both with the Wacom pen and the mouse - the lines drawn with the Pencil tool shift.

This behavior was introduced in Animate 2020 and is present in all versions since then. Tested in AA20, 21, 22, 23 and 24.

In Flash and earlier versions of Animate up to AA 2019 the pencil tool works as expected.

Thanks for the answer and glad to hear that i'm not alone struggling with this !
I'll try on Animate 2019 but I really hope they will repair the bug.

We checked and Animate 2019 does the same thing. Again we tried on different PC's with different configuration 😞

I also notice a slight shift to the right when drawing inside a symbol and can confirm that in Flash CS6 this wasn't the case. Can be seen with both mouse and pen tablet.
