Transparency for a symbol containing layers (Adobe flash CS6)

Hi,

(Sorry if the discussion got into the wrong place!)

I was not able to find an answer to this, so I try to ask about it...

Guess, it is not the first time ask this.

Case:

We have a symbol or MovieClip (let us call, a book) which contains graphical elements in different layers or symbols.

We want to change the transparency of the main symbol (the book).

When I use the "Alpha" option on the main symbol for transparency, every symbol inside of that symbol will be changed individually... So the result will look stupid with a lot of transparent things on each other.

We would like the full book to be transparent, like it would be a single picture (like a jpg).

However, we do not want to convert it to a picture... We want to keep it as a symbol.

Is it possible..?

You need to break it down to one vector peace altogether. Then when then when adding the transparency there should be no issues
