Turning a blend mode into animation

Question

Hi, I was struggling to find how to turn a symbol/layer into a animated blend transition. I can only see how to animate a blended mode layer on rotation (say, subtract layer ontop of a normal layer, you see the effect). But I am simply looking to take a layer and use a blend mode say invert, and slowly have the layers invert back and forth on loop.

I've been googing with no answers but it seems quite simple, if anyone could help that would be great. Thank you.

Unfortunately, blend modes aren't tweenable, perhaps you can achieve the same effect by duplicating the layer, applying the blend mode,and fading it in and out with an alpha effect.
