Using scanners with flash

Does anyone have experience in using scanners with flash.  We have a client that needs to be able to scan business cards from within flash, do some touch-ups and then submit to the server.

But I cannot find any resource on how a scanner could get connected to Flash or even Flex or within Adobe Air.

You mean like a photograph scanner?  I don't believe flash can talk to such devices.

Yes, like a flatbed scanner to scan photos.

You cannot do that. Your client will need to scan the image, and then you can allow them to upload the images... but you can't scan from inside Flash.
