Video not playing when added to timeline?

Hey there I'm a new animator and I'm wanting to make a small animation over an already made video, I add the video in but then it just randomly is ONLY the first frame? nothing else plays it just stays still, how do i fix this?

It sounds as though you may need to add additional frames to the layer the video is in. What document type are you using and how did you import it? It depends on that as well.
