What to do when you can't afford Adobe Animate

I am a game dev/student that used flash 8 and loved it, after the death of flash I'm left pondering, I cannot afford that hefty monthly price tag for Adobe Animate, I still have flash but its just old and outdated anymore, and before you give me a list of altnertatives I've already tried a bunch, and didn't care for them. Adobe Animate just feels right to me, perfect even but I can't get it!
