Why do i only see outlines of my illustrator files when I import them? No fills or strokes?

I had this problem as well...

I don't know why, but some fills are too complex for Animate.  I simplified my fill to a solid color, and imitated the gradients with the various brush tools.  I also separated the body parts of my character before importing to Animate...
