Why does animate not respond when I press control z more than once quickly?

Question

It's been working alright up until recently when it just stops for an entire 3 minutes before i can even do anything, the program stops and doesn't respond simply by pressing control z multiple times.

Ok so I think what may have caused this issue was having a lot of images from a different project for colours on a layer all the way through and now I think it'll work alright since the problem started when I clicked up on that top layer so I've just got all the colours off them, however I don't really know if this will solve it but I'm pretty sure it has
