Why won't Blending work on my Symbols?

Question

When ever I try to use effects on a symbol or anything for blending I try to use invert effect but its grayed out as are all but normal and Add blend modes could I recive help on how to use the invert blending?

You cannot apply different blend modes to different graphic symbols because multiple graphic symbols are merged as a single shape when you publish the SWF file

They're greyed out because those blend modes, while defined in the Canvas specification, are not yet widely supported in browsers. So Animate disables access to them.
