Overdue feature request - Automatic track and project tempo for much easier snapping.
As a sound engineer I use many different DAWs and audio editing and mixing software. I have used Audition since it was known as Cool Edit and it seems one of the biggest features that is missing that seems to appear on almost all other audio software in some manner is the manipulation of tempo. Adobe Audition has been around long enough that when an audio track is inserted either into the multitrack editor or the audio editor the tempo should AUTOMATICALLY be calculated by the program. This will allow for truly accurate snapping to time measures as the tempo will determine the snapping. Audition should also be able to change tempo within a track, and also use an automation method to increase or decrease tempo over time. I'm not a software engineer but I find that the most useful audio software usually has a very clear grasp of how it handles tempo. Tempo should also be able to be altered without affecting the pitch of the audio. I think this is one of the most obvious features missing from such an amazing piece of software. I can just imagine inserting various audio tracks into a multitrack session and matching the tracks up easily as Audition has calculated the tempo (to the best of it's ability) and they can be easily snapped into the multitrack editor for mixing and editing. Adobe Audition to me is a beast of an audio editor and allows for such precise selecting and cutting that it's snapping feature is missing an overall standard to keep tracks and beats in order, tempo would be the answer. But Audition is past just inserting a tempo and hoping the tracks fall into place, that should be up to the tempo based snapping which would be such a welcome addition to Audition that it may mean I wouldn't have to use other software to create beatmapped and tempo matched mixes. Anyway I hope that others in the community can see the benefits that having a tempo based snapping system which works automatically by recognising transients/beats to determine the tempo of a track which can then be transfered to the editor/multitrack editor as the main project tempo will be a benefit to creating professional sounding audio productions. Tempo based snapping will also increase the speed of producing as having tracks match the project tempo automatically will cut time in mixing tracks with different tempos as they will fit into the project tempo with ease. If you can make the remix function work 75% to what's possible, tempo snapping will allow the remix function to use tempo and transients to create a remix that stays in musical time no matter the length that someone using Premiere challenges it with. If this feature is added in some form in the future, I have many more ideas to make Audition the easy to use, fully professional DAW that could easily be the standard in radio and audio production. Thanks Mannie
