ACR 13.4 resetting adjustments erases saved snapshot(s)

When working in camera raw window, if I saved a snapshot, then reset my recent adjustments, by clicking reset (Option + Cancel on a Mac), previously ACR would reset the settings to what they were when I opened the image this session, but it did not touch the snapshot. I found out the hard way that this version now throws away the snapshot, after I spent a while working on a raw image, and tried to see its before state.

I know I can click and hold the “eye” button, but that resets all the changes I made to the image since it was shot, including my import preset, and not just this session.

Previously if I reset things, the snapshots would be saved, so I could go back to any of them. This was handy if I forgot to save a snapshot before making any changes, and I wanted to see what I had done this session, I could save a snapshot, reset my changes, then create a snapshot of the “before state. I think this is how ACR should function, and hopefully in the next release you can change it back.

As a test, I made some changes to a raw image, and saved several snapshots, then tried resetting it, and this time it erased all my snapshots. Ideally, I would remember to save a snapshot before I made changes, then after I worked on the image, I could go back and mouse over to see changes, but resetting an image should never erase all the save snapshots!

Thanks.

Correct answer Thomas Knoll

The user interface logic behind the Option-Cancel logic is that this should be the same as pressing the Cancel button and then re-opening dialog with the same images.  So undoing all the snapshot changes is correct behavior.

The "Reset to Open" command does what the user wants (resets the settings of the selected images to the open state, and does not change the snapshot state.

Okay, will train myself to stop using the Reset, and start using Reset to open from now on- thanks everyone.

Have you  tried the "Reset to open" option? I just tried this out on my Windows PC after creating a snapshot and the snapshot was not deleted.

Sorry, I am not clear on what this is, or how to access it.
