ACR 13 adj brush not working

The brush tool in ACR is not working. It seems stuck on the magnify tool and I can not select the brush or eraser. Is there some sort of setting I accidentaly changed? Also the healing brush acts the same. I click on it a a zoom box appears. The brush or the healing icon is always grayed out.

What gives?

You can try pressing Z or H keys to toggle back out of the zoom or hand tool - happend to me a couple of times - something seems off about the keyboard shortcuts in the newer versions.

Try a Reset of the Camera Raw preferences:
Hold down the Command key and select Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw (macOS) or hold down the Ctrl key and select Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw (Windows).
Click Yes in the dialog that asks "Delete the Camera Raw Preferences?"
