Question

ACR = 9 second to open = Normal?

Is 9 seconds a reasonable amount of time for Camera Raw to open? I keep feeling that this is slow, but maybe i'm impatient. it's been this way for a while. I have a pretty good system too.

I tried a bunch of things already w no change: GPU hardware accel on vs off, reinstalling programs including the ACR plugin, exlcuding all adobe folders from virus scanning, opening files (either CR2 or JPEG) from local vs network drives, opening one vs several files at once, opening from File Explorer vs Bridge — always the same time for it to launch. Caches/scratch for all adobe programs are set to local M.2 drives.

Everything else seems ok tho -- happy with performance once it's open.

ACR v 15.2.0.1381

AMD Threadripper 3960X

64 GB RAM

NVIDIA 3080 Ti

If you would like a data point for comparison:
7-year old home built machine, Win 10 with nVidia GTX970 and 32 GB of Ram, images stored on local 7200 rpm drive.  4K Monitor ultrawide.

From PS Home window

  •  Cr open file 5 seconds
  •  Cr open another file of same size 4 seconds

From Bridge - 4 seconds

If not faster load, can it somehow be left 'open' all the time so it is ready to go?
