Adobe Camera Raw slow with RAW files from certain cameras?

Hello all!

So I ran into this weird problem, when I used Bridge/ACR on an older MacPro with Mojave the other day. I was editing RAW files from my Nikon D810 which worked totally fine, certainly fast enough to be a pleasurable experience.

Later I worked on RAW files off a Nikon D7100, which was absolutely horrid. Camera Raw kept slowing down with spinning beach ball and being unresponsive for several seconds. I would have assumed that those D7100 files, being smaller than those D810 files, would have worked even better and faster.

How is it possible that Camera Raw is this picky, especially when the files should have put even less strain on the CPU?

Doesn't make sense!

I hope somebody out there has an idea, because when things are bugging me, I want to get to the bottom of it 🙂
