Camera Raw 15.5 and Nikon Z8

I spent several hours with a Senior Technician a few weeks ago while he checked my computer. He told me immediately there was an known issue with Camera Raw and PhotoDownloader and the new Nikon Z8. After remotely checking everything, he again said it was a known issue and that engineering would be working on it. Some of the issues included more than one Z8 was detected and portrait inages (vertical) would download in black and white thumbnails. Some images would be completely missing. 

 

Unfortunately, the only thing I am seeing fixed  with Camera Raw 15.5 is that only one Z8 is now detected and half the vertical thumbnails  are now in colour. (The files themselves are fine as they download). What I am concerned with are the missing images. They are on the card and if downloaded directly from the camera, they are there. They are not all appearing in PhotoDownloader.  This presents a real problem for my work. Is there anything else I should be looking at to fix this? Thank you.

I am hoping more people will come forward with some experiences wth the Nikon z8. I am shooting raw on to a lexar cfexpress 128. I renamed the volume and now I cannot retrieve the files. They are missing. I ran a recovery with three different companies and nothing. I saw a problem with same file names and now with this renaming and have isolated the problem to be part of the reader or even failing ports on an old computer. It's part of my archiving to rename the volume. It seems to be oddly sensitive so I will wait and keep to defaults. I have updated the bios to the latest and will report this to Nikon. Always copy and paste, never cut and paste, and make it a habit. Work from the copy and double up your source. Its expensive but the peace of mind is worth it.

I got Z8 when ACR 15.3 was over here, and never experienced any issues. I've renamed in-camera files to reflect the year and place (abberviated), I upload the files to computer from CFexpress card via card reader (to different computer folders per my choice), then open them in ACR. Two different Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers, two different card readers, two different cards, no any problems.

    I was one month in Japan shooting up to 128 gb a day. Before I left I returned my Lexar reader and bought a Rocketek CFexpress. I have had none of the same problems since. The one thing I changed as well was the Batmax batteries from China. They work great as backups but will not charge in camera. As soon as got off the plane I bought two Nikon batteries at half the price of american stores. I could actually charge the batteries inside the camera. I would advise that nothing is supposed to overheat. The lexar reader was very hot. My lexar 128 gfexpress does not over heat.

    I was backing up daily to a 2t usbhub. I could not rely on the internet in Japan. Most services are dsl but still very slow and expensive.
