Camera Raw 18.7: Saturation -100 in masks leaves visible color

And another issue with masks / radial filters:

If I set a value to -100, it should actually mean -100.

For example, setting Saturation to -100 inside a mask should make that masked area completely black and white. But in the current versions, it feels more like -50. There is still clearly visible color left.

This used to behave differently a few versions ago, and the current behavior is incredibly frustrating. A value of -100 should represent the full effect, not some reduced version of it.

Please stop changing basic adjustment behavior like this. It makes precise and repeatable editing much harder for no good reason.

    Hi @Frank32806397ntvm,

Thanks for reporting this. I’ve moved your Saturation report into a separate thread so we can investigate and track it independently.

Since you mentioned that Saturation -100 inside a mask behaved differently in previous Camera Raw versions, I’d like to determine whether this is a regression.

    Could you please share:

    • Approximately which Camera Raw version last produced the result you expected?
    • A short screen recording showing the mask with Saturation = -100 and the remaining color.
    • If possible, the same image and adjustment in the older Camera Raw version for comparison.
    • Help > System Info > Copy from Photoshop, pasted into your reply.

If the behavior is image-dependent, a sample original file would also be very helpful. You can upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or WeTransfer and send me the link privately via Send Message on my profile.

Once we have a reproducible comparison, I can take it to the Camera Raw team for investigation.

    Best,
    Anshul Saini
