Camera Raw Crop Tool

Please can someone explain the changes to the crop tool in Camera Raw?

When using the gemoetry options I cannot crop to the edge of the image no matter what I do - this was no problem before. When the crop area is maximised, the crop tool no longer drags the cropped area, it only draws a new area to crop.

This is incredibly frustrating. Please can someone tell me how to get the legacy crop tool back? This wasn’t included in any “What’s New” content I have seen.

It works fine for me here, the same as always.

I can force it to start a new crop area if I hold down the Shift key (which might be as designed, because the Shift key also does that for other Photoshop features such as the Horizontal Type tool). If I don’t hold down the Shift key, dragging a crop rectangle handle edits the existing crop rectangle as expected.

That leads to a theory: Is there any chance the Shift key is stuck on your keyboard, or there is a keyboard shortcut utility sending a Shift key stroke in the background? Maybe try tapping the Shift key a couple of times just in case. Or, does it work differently if you hold down the Shift key?

Also, in case it’s related to your configuration, you might list what it is.

For example, Camera Raw crop is working perfectly and as expected on my system which is:

    • Camera Raw 18.3
    • MacBook Pro running macOS 26.4.1
