Question

camera RAW distorts colors from nikon z6 ii

Hey everyone,

so I took some photos in camera RAW using the flat profile on my nikon z6 II. When I try to import them into after effects (I'm doing a Hyperlapse) the colors seem to be off, I changed the profile to camera matching- flat , which gives me the closest to the original. It is useable that way, but I was wondering if there is a better way or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

You saved from ACR in what color space and if you view the same (TIFF, JPEG?) in Photoshop, does it match what you saw in Camera Raw?

sorry maybe I wasn't clear enough. I imported  the RAW files into after effects, which will open ACR automatically where I changed the color profile to camera-matching flat, which gives me the closest result to the orignal files (original files with correct colors and color profile can be seen in the NIKON ZX editor).

I didn't convert  the RAW file to anything.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're doing or expecting.

You open a raw in ACR and apply a flat profile. That IS what you've got. There is no 'original' but the raw which has no such appearance. It will differ from the embedded JPEG the camera produces (for the back of the camera, initial preview). It will differ from any other raw converter as all are unique. Nothing you see in ZX editor has any relationship to what you might see in ACR.

This is what a raw looks like prior to any converter rendering it and every converter will vary:
