Question

Camera Raw Edit 15.1.1 in Photoshop 2020 images are rotated vertically

Hi there,

I have been using adobe photoshop 2020 & lightroom for many years for my own hobby. But in recent months I have notice when I go to use the Camera Raw to edit my photos in Photoshop 2020 it always rotates my images vertically. Which is annoying when trying to edit landscape images.

I have tried the CRTL + L or R keys but nothing happens. There is no crop tool available either.

I thought about downloading an older version of Camera raw when it use to work.

You could try resetting the ACR Preferences by doing the following:

Hold down the Command key while going to Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw (MacOS)

or hold down the Ctrl key while going to Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw (Windows).

When you see the dialog asking if you want to Delete the Camera Raw Preferences, click Yes.

Does it only happen with certain images like the panorama you have in your screenshot?

What camera did the images you made the panorama come from?

Is there a reason you can't or don't want to update to a newer photoshop version?

As Rick Flohr wrote, if it's a bug with older non supported photoshop versions it most likely won't be fixed.

I believe so. But I will trial your theory.

Turns out, if I save the image after stitching it and doing all I need to the image. If I reopen the image in photoshop 2020 and select camera raw. The file opens in its normal horizontal perspective. Which is kind of strange.

Unfortunately I cannot upgrade to the latest Photoshop as I need to upgrade my Graphics card, which I may as well upgrade my entire unit when it comes to it. As I am running short on 16gb ram too.

Also that looks like your screenshot is of the camera raw filter inside of photoshop.

Filter>Camera Raw Filter

A few tools including Crop are not available in the camera raw filter.

I did mention in the original statement that I was using Photoshop 2020, Jeff. Yes it is under the filter tab. But using adaptive wide lens doesn't rotate the image. Just in camera raw, why?

Bugs are no longer filed against 2020 so I've moved your post to discussions for better visibility.

Are you able to update to PS 2023?
