UPDATE:

We're interested in what changes you would like see in our products. Do you have an idea for a feature that would help your workflow? Is there a small change that could be made to make your life a little easier? Let us know!  Share an Idea, Ask a Question or Report a Problem and get feedback from the Product Development Team and other passionate users on the Photoshop Family product Feedback Site on Photoshop.com.

In future it would helpful if you could use this thread as a means to add

"Features" that you would like to see in future releases of Adobe Camera Raw.

Please do NOT create additional new Topics and try not to duplicate requests by other users. Also, be thorough in your description of the feature and why you think Adobe should consider it.

Oh, and if you find it necessary to comment on someone's feature request/suggestion, try not to get into a shouting match. The penalty for doing so is...

b If you're asking that a particular camera is supported in a future release or just taking the opportunity to carp that yours isn't then please do so in another thread!

Camera Raw DOES NOT read or open scans. Scans are NOT raw files.

    Hi
I am currently copying colour negatives and an invert function would be welcome whilst still in raw, it's very difficult to try and gauge white level when looking at a negative.

    Thanks Chris

Under the Curve tab in ACR, choose Linear from the Custom pop-up and then
reverse the curve, so that it slopes in a straight line from the top left
corner to the bottom right corner. Input should then read 0 and Output 255
    and your values reversed.

If you are happy with the result and you are doing a lot of processing, save
the settings from the ACR pop-up menu and then choose the new settings from
the Edit > Apply Camera Raw Settings menu, context menu or ACR dialog.
Alternatively, choose Save New Camera Raw Defaults (you can always revert
back to the ACR factory default).

I haven't tested the above, BTW, but in theory it should work.

    My whish list:

    1. Multiple XMP settings for one RAW file:
    Like in Apple Aperture

    2. Smart Sharpen filter for sharpening:
I have done some tests with the smart sharpen filter form PS CS2. The results are much better than form the ACR built in sharpener. It would be very good if we could choose between an unsharp mask or smart sharpen engine for sharpening in ACR.

    3. Purple Fringe Remover:
Some lenses are producing purple/red (some even green) colored highlights - like chromatic aberration, but all over the image.

    4. Tools for Black & White Images
Now to get an Black & White image out of ACR the only possibility is to set saturation=0. A color picker to simulate a black & white color filter would be nice. Or some presets for Black & White filters (Yellow, Orange, Red, Green, Yellow-Green, Blue)

Is it possible to have ACR save multiple formats simultaneously like Image Processor does in CS2? I have made a feature request for Image Processor to support dng output and in case that doesn't fly, I'd like to request that ACR be able to save to jpg and dng simultaneously.
We always have to make 2 passes when archiving our 10's of 1000's of images to both of those. We use the jpg's for quick viewing and the dng as the archive.
Any one else interested in this?
    Thanks,

ACR should support the mousewheel in Windows. It would be very nice to be able to select Exposure (or Brightness or Contrast, etc.) and alter its value using the mouse wheel. Currently it only supports arrow keys.

Also... Exposure and Shadows does not currently support Highlights and Shadows when the Alt key is pressed, when using the arrow keys (only mouse dragging). It would be nice to support the Alt key when using either the arrow keys and mouse wheel.

Yes. The ability to apply a fixed aspect ratio crop is very important to me. Multiple crops would be even better... as long as we could see what ratio was in effect for each crop.

ACR 3.3 introduced a change that i see as a major backward step: That of certain slider changes only being visible at 100% (particularly sharpening). I understand the reason behind this, and I know many will say that you either should not sharpen in ACR and you should not do it at <100%.

But if your workflow requires the processing of hundreds of photos for display on the web. (Often I have to do this onsite with the clients present) then viewing changes at "web size" is an absolute must have. Most of the shots are good enough to print without mods in PSCS2 so I also need to be able in ACR to view mods at print size.

The happy half way house is to be able to select whether these changes are visible or not with the rider that redraw speed will be affected.

Right now I am forced to change my tool of choice as having to view every image at 100% has introduced an unacceptable delay in my workflow.

    Camera Raw is great. But....

Every image opened in Camera Raw resets the top tool menu to the first choice of Zoom (the list at Zoom, Hand, White Balance, Color Sampler, Crop, Straighten, Rotate). This is a frustration. I never want to use Zoom. I generally want to Crop. Even more frustrating when I forget to reset it manually.

So why can't Camera Raw simply remember the previous choice here, and use previous choice as the default tool for the next image?

Also keep hoping one of the updates will finally correct the Large Font problem preventing readability of the items written two lines in the space of one (Shadows, Highlights, Workflow, etc). No one else uses 120% font size on large screens?

    Chris,

After desaturate, you may use White Balance sliders (Temperature and Tint) as a poor man's channel mixer...
