Camera RAW Version Issue

I have Photoshop CS6 and a Canon PwerShot SX60 HS but CS6 won't recognise the camera's RAW files. I read I need version 7.1 but that's not on the Adobe Camera RAW Plugin Installer download page. None of the versions on this page works.

I did use DNG but the resulting TIFF files are more grainy than the JPEG!

Can someone give me a link to the correct version? Thank you.

I got a download from the following, but the Patch Installer doesn't work. 😞 Stuck now.

What happens when you try the patch installer?  What error?

You should unzip the setup.zip to a new folder and run things from there, instead of running directly from the ZIP file.

ssprengel, many thanks. I don't know about the DNG from the camera. I can't see files with that extension, so I guess not.

Did you try Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get camera raw 9.1.1?

Hi, I can't see where Help> Updates is. Please can you post a link?

In PS 2020 it looks like this:

Working with the DNG's would not be any different than working with the original raw files. You are working with raw data, and it's your responsibility to find the settings in Camera Raw that will produce the acceptable results. The JPEG images are processed in the camera and have settings applied to them automatically. When working with raw images, the work is up to you.

Thanks. Not sure how to do that!

CS6 is compatible with ACR 9.1.1.

You need at least ACR 8.7 for your camera (not 7.1):

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

However, Adobe has recently removed most all downloads for these older versions, so the DNGs are the best you can do, and the graininess you are seeing with the DNGs is the same as for native raws from the camera, anyway.

Does the camera natively produce DNGs or are you using a DNG Converter?

You can get the latest DNG Converter, here, but the ACR 9.1.1 link does not work, anymore:

The Camera RAW version for my camera is minimum 8.7.
