Question

Computer no longer Supports Camera Raw

I knew it would happen. And now it has. Adobe has informed me  my desktop computer no longer supports my 'PS/LR Bundle' package which I've been using for years. PS Camera RAW no longer works and,  over a period of time LR has been warning me my present graphics card resources are insufficient which means it's time for a major overhaul.

What would your recommendations be for a new CPU and GPU?

What is your current operating system? What are your current hardware specs?

Irrelevant John. I plan to purchase a new computer system. New motherboard, new CPU, New GPU. 32 GB ram.

I want a system components that'll keep me going for at least 5 years.

OK. It was only a question out of curiosity to know where you're coming from.

I see from your other reply that you're on Windows 11. Best wishes with hunting for your new computer.

Have you had a look through online discussions such as this Puget Systems' article?

There are so many factors involved that there is no simple answer.  Budget? Current computer spec? Intended uses?  Links to current hardware minimum requirements have already been given. One thing for sure is that if your hardware is old then not much is going to help with recent software developments. Sometimes easier to abandon ship and start over with a new build.

I will have a new computer built . My present system no longer supports the PS/LR bundle. Budget is less a concern than acceleration.

Are you using Windows or macOS?

In general, a late generation CPU is better, such as 12th/13th gen Intel Core or M2/M3 Apple Silicon, because they have more CPU cores and tend to be more efficient in terms of power consumption and heat. And a late generation GPU is more likely to work well under the new requirements for things like AI masking and AI Denoise. (For example, older GPUs tend to lack hardware for AI acceleration.)

I mention that because some post a question because they were interested in the discount on a 3-year-old computer model with just 4 cores and old Intel integrated graphics, and are wondering if it might be good. Although that might technically meet the published system requirements, in many cases using recent versions of Camera Raw/Lightroom and Photoshop will be much more satisfying, and more future-proof, on a computer released in the last couple of years.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
