CR lost select subject choice, PS Beta 25.12 in PS 2024

I'm getting the feeling things are not going well at Adobe.

Last week's PS locking up.

Now I open CR to find there is no select subject function. A post from Feb 2024 said to delete CR preferences.
That restored slect subject for as long as the tutorial was running. Once that was exited Select Subject menu choice was gone.
Tried to use an older PS version but 2023 folder now only has plugins and preset folders. So much for keeping that as a fall back from beta.
Speaking of beta... My PS 2024 folder has an .exe dated 7/26. When run it's splash screen says ver 25.12 BETA, and soon produces the graphics accellerator error msg.

The PS Beta folder .exe has a .exe date 8/8

This is no way to run a railroad. NOT HAPPY.

I've moved your post from Photoshop to the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) forum.

To fix the issue with Photoshop hanging up, uninstall all of your Beta apps using the CC app and use the released versions. This is a known bug that Adobe is aware of.

In the future, it's best to limit your posts to one application and issue so we can better assist.

I uninstalled PS & PS beta. Only reinstalled PS 2024 ( 25.11 ) At least I don't have two versions of beta coming up now.
Still no Select to mask: subject, background, sky function.

Is it supposed to be gone now, moved to some unintuitive location, (cursing removed) ?

Deleteing preferences causes select subject to return, in the tutorial.
However after exiting the tutorial select subject is gone again.
While I'm here... Dear Adobe, NOT GRATEFUL!

Reverted to installing ACR ver 14.5 over 16.4
No help while 14.5 is running still no select subject, background, or sky choice comes up in ACR. See picture.
Maybe the interface is controlled by another file.
Really frustrating. Not how I wanted to spend my day, fixing adobe.

Appear to have stumbled on the answer when I updated Bridge. Bridge pointed to a newer image folder.
When a recent image was double clicked ACR opened with the Select subject to mask function working.
Closed it, and tried the images in the older folder I had previously been trying to revisit for editing.
No select subject function. It appears POS ACR removes the ability to select masking with older (9 years) images.
Well, that's not a superpower is it. Thanks for all the support Adobe. I'll keep that in mind in 2 months when the plan is up for renewal.
