CS6 opens dng file only once

Windows 10 PS6

I'm using a noise reduction app from Topaz to clean my photos post-processing in CS6. I use the app as a stand alone and it creates a .dng file.

I notice that Bridge shows the correct image for that file & I can open it in PS RAW processing ...only once.  After that 1st time all that Bridge shows is the dng icon & PS gives me a window that says "Photoshop cannot open this file".

If I go through the noise reduction process and the app creates a new dng file I can open that one...only once.

This is only occasionally an issue for me, but what the heck is going on?

Why can't I access the dng file a second time & why does PS say it can't open it when it handles the file without a problem the 1st time?

Correct answer Helium2

What operating system are you using?

It seems if one runs the saved dngs from topaz through adobe dng converter 14.x before opening in photoshop cs6 then the problem does not occur.

Win 10

Your suggestion to use the converter works well.

Thank you.

I'll pass this on to Topaz at some point and update this post with their comments.

Thanks again.

It seems the issue must be with the way the Topaz application creates the DNGs.

Have you tried to contact Topaz?

Can you upload the DNG both before and after this issue to something like Dropbox so we can examine this behavior? Lable each (before, after or problematic).

I've created a before opening file & an after opening file. 1 and 2 respectively. They are about 114MB each according to File Explorer!

Haven't used Dropbox ( or anything really ) for big file transfer in years so I'll have to see what I can use. It's going to be a while before I have the time to look around for options so please stand by.
