Current Versions of CameraRaw freezing when attempting to open files (raw files, tiff)

This has been an ongoing fight for me over the last few years, basically ever since CameraRaw went beyond 14.5.

When attempting to open a Raw in Bridge (and in Photoshop), with version 17.2 the process just hangs. When looking at the process in task manager it isn't using any more resources than normal, and seems to be operating as intended, just without loading my file.

When I install 14.5, these issues do not happen.

I have had a few moments over the years where I've been able to use a current verion of CameraRaw. But random updates seem to restart the problem.

I would love to be able to use current features within the plug-in, and not be held back to an outdated version. I've seen similar problems posted on the forums before, but the fixes others have found do not work for me.

I've done:

- a fresh install of Windows.

- a fresh install of my video drivers

- a complete re-install of all Adobe programs, including using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool

- Tried using just one monitor/made sure both my monitors were operating under the same settings.

- making sure my graphics card is running on factory settings

- rolled back to older versions of Bridge and Photoshop

I've held off on posting this here for a while because I've been very stubborn with trying to troubleshoot the issue on my own; but I give up.

I really hope this can get figured out, because my entire workflow is based around editing in CameraRaw

and as mentioned about, I would prefer not to be held back to a previous version to accomplish this

My system specs are as follows:

- Windows 11 Pro, version 10.0.22631 Build 22631

- Gigabyte Z390 UD Motherboard

- Intel Core i7-9700K CPU

- Nvidia 2070 Super

- 64 GB of RAM

Can you share a copy of a raw and tiff, along with the settings xmp and acr sidecar files in place when you see the slow open performance? Do you know if these files opens faster if you make a copy of the raw file and put it in a folder alone without the settings sidecar files (xmp and acr files)?

it's working for me now on my Mac. While the spinning beach ball icon went on and on I walked away from the computer. I came back 20 minutes later and everything is working as usual. Guess it just needed a really long think
