The DNG converter has compatibility options that can be set. Did you check to make sure it was configured to be compatible with a version of Camera Raw that was that early?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for reply,

Got it sorted thanks and you were right, that was the problem.

Do you know what OSX version is the cut off point for photoshop CS5 and lightroom 2,

i have photoshop CS5 and lightroom 2 and am looking to buy a second hand mac but don't want to spend a whole lot,

Currently using an  IMAC G5 20inch (2006 model) OSx 10.7.5

2.16 ghz. intel core 2 duo.

4gb ram.

i just want something a little faster but that will run photoshop CS5 and lightroom 2

Sorry, I'm a Windows user, and have absolutely no experience or information regarding the Mac. I'm old and retired and just haven't had the interest in even familiarizing myself with Mac specifications.
