Files are not showing in Adobe Digital Negative Converter

I have 863 jpg files in a folder on the desktop and want to convert them into DNG's. However, in the Adobe Digital Negative Converter (DNG Converter) the files do not show up when selecting the same folder. Adobe has no solution for it except to re-start the computer and to ask this forum.

Any hints would be helpfull - thanks.

Can't be done with the DNG converter, raw only.
Can be done in LRc.

But in an other folder I have RAW files from a Nikon Z72 and I can't see those either. And by the way Adobe support tol me that JPG tp DNG vonversion can be done in DNG converter.
