Question

I can't convert my Nikon D850 NEF raw files to DNG files.

I've updated Camera Raw, and dowloaded the stndalone DNG Concerter app, but nothing seems to work in importing to any of my Lightroom apps - Classic or new.  I played around a bit with my Photoshop and Bridge, but I don't have such mastery that I can do the whole folder of NEF files.  Coaching or a link for me to study please?

"...I don't have such mastery that I can do the whole folder of NEF files...."

That is a catch (for beginners?) with the DNG Converter! You must select a FOLDER of raw NEF files to convert. You cannot select (highlight) individual files to convert.

If you want to only experiment by converting one file- you need to place it in a new folder by itself, and select this Folder.

The Converter can place the new DNG files in another folder, so no problem with over-writing your originals.

DNG CONVERTER INSTRUCTIONS

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .

Am I mistaken, but I think my issue might be that I'm trying to
convert from a file folder and the Lightroom app will only convert
directly from the camera? I'm going to try to work on this some more
this weekend. Thanks for your helpful ideas!

LR should have no such issues converting from a folder upon Import (or after import).
