importing from hard drive to lightroom

when I try to import from the files already on the hard drive, I get the original raw file and also the dng. Why is it adding the CR2 raw file to the folder?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Lightroom is capable of working with both CR2 and DNG files. So if there are both file types in the folder that you are importing, why would you expect Lightroom not to import the CR2 files?
