masking (M) selection is not working

Question

The masking (M) selection is not working, when I choose the mask selection there is a pop up window with the new changes to the masking tab, but there is not x button to close the new changes window, then freezes all of photoshop, I can't even use masking in camera raw, only way to exit is through task manager, I tried resetting control preferences in camera raw with holding ctrl down, still not working please help I loose my work when it gets frozen

Hey, @Inspiration29834330urr1. Welcome to the Camera Raw Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Do you see this when you open images via Camera Raw or the filter > Camera Raw? Before anything else, please update Camera Raw & Photoshop to the latest version via the Creative Cloud desktop app and check if the issues exist.

If it does, please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Try this with Camera Raw:

In Photoshop, press & hold the CTRL + ALT key and go to Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw Preferences and select 'Yes' when prompted to reset Camera Raw preferences.
