No more display of multiple images simultaneously in Camera Raw 9.4 ACR

I gone crazy while i have updated my Photoshop and realize that the new Camera Raw opens each raw serately and not together like before!

The function that i have the Browser on the left, where i can edit all together or transfer the settings is gone!

This function is for me existentially, while i have tons of pics that have nearly the same settings.

Edit each separately was a horror for me!!

What can i do and when not, where do i geht the old Camera Raw?

Thanks and regards

Guido

I think I know what the issue is:

You're dragging and dropping them in the "Workspace When No Documents Are Open"

Do this: Edit > Preferences > General > Uncheck "Show "Start" Workspaces When No Documents Are Open"

Hi,

For those with PS ELEMENTS (I have v16, with ACR v9.12, on Win 8.1), there is no "Show "Start" Workspaces When No Documents Are Open" option. The only way to get the left-hand filmstrip of thumbnails in Camera Raw is to have nothing open in the Edit screen, then in File Explorer select ALL of the raw files that you want to open, and drag them onto the workspace. Right-clicking and selecting 'Open' does not work - you'll only get one raw image at a time. And you can't add to the filmstrip once you've made your selection. Not a prize-winning piece of design!

My preferred method of opening multiple raws, and having them show up with a filmstrip on the left is with the enter key. I can drag and drop to get a filmstrip, but muscle memory still has me pressing the enter key every time. Right now, and after many reinstalls, updates and preference resets, it's still not acting normal after my PS CC 2015.5 and latest Bridge update... Any help?

And now when you open PS it will take you to the blank workspace we're used to seeing in previous versions. You can now drag and drop any number of images and the film strip will be there.

When you opened up one image, what happens is that that image takes you to that workspace, but now you can get to that workspace every time you launch PS.

Bingo!

Problem solved.

What OS, Photoshop and ACR versione do you have installed? I just dragged 4 raw file from windows 10 file explorer and dropped them on Photoshop CC 2015  i had open and ACR 9.6 open them in a file strip. I canceled out of ACR 9.6 closed CC 2015 open CC 2015.5 dropped then on cc 2015.5 and once again ACR 9.6 opened them in a strop. Same with CC 2014 an CC. With CS6 ACR 9.1.1 opened them in a file strip. With CS2 ACR 3.0 open them in a file strip.

I closed CS2 opened CC 2015.5 and dropped 60 8MP Canon D20 CR2 file on Photoshop ACR 9.6 open all 60 Raw File in a film strip.

I'm on Windows 10. Updated all apps this week. Ps CC 2015.5 and ACR 9.6 (or Camera Raw CC says "up to date" in the CC app). In your example you already have one image open... Which is what I was saying I did and the film strip worked as expected. Just to give a visual example here's a screen shot of only one image at a time, with nothing open in Ps.

But if I have at least one document open, ACR opens up with the film strip. See here:

Here's the system info

PS CC 2015.5 ACR 9.6 is opening multiple DNG images drug-and-dropped onto an empty PS document area from Windows 7 Explorer or from Windows 10 Explorer, with PS open in the Photography workspace in each:

Here are a few of my PS Prefs settings panels, so you can compare to see if any of these are different, since some deal with placing or Opening, first Camera Raw prefs, then PS:

Looking at my Windows 10 System Information, I am using BIOS MODE UEFI not Legacy, have Secure Boot ON, and have Hyber-V Virtualization Enabled in Firmware Yes but otherwise, except for the manufacturer-specific things, the settings are the same.  My Windows 7 computer has two monitors, my Windows 10 computer has 1.

I experienced this issue today. I grabbed 20 or so raw photos, opened Ps and tried to drag and drop them to open. No filmstrip area was visible, one at a time editing for that many images is a little crazy. So I ended Ps from the task manager. I tried the open dialogue as suggested, no dice. On accident though (I gave up and was going to just do 1 at a time), I had 1 image open after editing it and without thinking grabbed the next 3-4 images and dragged them in. CR popped up with film strip. All that to say with at least one open document, CR opened as I expected.

Ouch, where do you get that left browser window?

I did not have that!

How did you open up the pics together?

I do it in that way that i drag and drop it on the first Photoshop Screen or go to open and select 4 pics.

After that one ACR is opening and only one instance.

After finishing and click open the raw, another ACR Window with the next raw is opening!
And so on if all other are opened.

So i see no option to blend that browserwindow in like you have!

Please can you say me what i do wrong while i have so much pics to correct?

Thanks and regards Guido

At this moment i try to open all within Acdsee with the Export function of it and select all and click open in Photoshop!
Now all pics opened with the left window like ever before.

But whats that? Is that a new feature, i never have seen that before?

Thanks and regards Guido
