Question

Noise

I am using CR 15 on mac os 12.5.1. Recently I noticed some really bad effects on certain images with white walls: blotchiness, noise. I use minimal adjustments with a white balance. However when I reset to default the blotchiness goes. I have since been processing my raw files in Capture One. Camer files refrom a Fufifilm gfx100s. I would be keen to know ifanyone else has experienced this or could throw any light on the problem.   Cheers

One great way to examine images is to open in Photoshop, add a Levels adjustment layer, and play with moving the black and white sliders. I'd move the white level slider left, maybe around 220, and the black slider right. This increases contrast and lets you see blotches and uneven areas as well as dust spots.

This is with black at 128, gamma at 0.5, white at 220.

Thank deejjjaaaa for your reply and guidance. I am attaching a crop jpg, straight from a raw file. One thing I noticed: if I put the white balnace eydropper on the white area the blotchiness goes so perhaps the artefact is related to that?

Are you viewing and is the screen capture at 100% zoom or greater? That's necessary.

That it disappeared after WB makes me ask, if you disable GPU in preference and try again from the beginning, do the artifacts disappear?

Sorry, your post went to my spam. Thanks for the suggestion. I switched the "Use Graphics Processor" setting from auto to off and it made no difference unfortunately.
