Not supporting PNG is becoming really annoying

I bet this has been said over and over again but it's annoying. I can open pngs in camera raw through photoshop but then I need to go through a labourious amount of 1 by 1 file opening and going to the effects panel waiting etc.. before getting to camera raw.

I have to destroy my files converting them in order to open them in camera raw to tweak some settings to then have them come out again in PNG.

Why don't you support the same input files as the output files it doesn't make any sense to me.
