P: Camera-Matching Profiles: Requests and information

  • March 6, 2020

  • 63346 views

Camera-matching Profiles are applicable to Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic, and the Lightroom Ecosystem products (Desktop, Mobile, and Web).

Note: Not all cameras will receive camera-matching profiles.

This thread is a place to request missing camera-matching profiles for specific models. Please include a complete camera model designation and a list of the specific camera-matching profiles you are requesting in your request. If your camera is already listed in this thread, please reply to the specific camera’s post rather than just posting in-line.

Camera-matching profiles are provided for some camera manufacturers and models. As raw support is added for individual camera models, camera-matching profiles for some cameras may be added when raw support is initially offered.  Other cameras may see camera-matching profiles added at a later date. It is also possible that a specific camera may see a long delay or perhaps not ever receive a specific camera-matching profile.

Note:

ETAs for camera-matching profiles are not available. New feature announcements are only made after support is added.

Lightroom CC already has other "camera matching" profiles (e.g. for Fujifilm cameras). It would be great if Adobe could add new profiles to match the recently released "Leica Looks" for the Q3 camera.

Hello, anyone having luck with being able to use 'Nostalgic Negative' for the GFX 100 II in lightroom? It seems to be missing from the color matching profiles.

How are you importing raw files from the GFX 100 II into LR?  It's not yet on the supported-cameras list:

Fujifilm just released a new camera, the GFX 100 II.

When opening the RAW files in LRC, one cannot access all the camera profiles (like "Nostalgic Negative").

Can the Lightroom team at Adobe please update this?

Thank you.

The latest update of Lightroom Classic was released on Aug 16th 2023, and the Camera you are referring to was announced on Sept 12, 2023 so support for its raw images are not yet supported.

The next release of Lightroom is expected in the Second week of October, however Adobe does not announce when support will be available, updates usually occur every two months.

I have just purchased an iPhone 15 Pro. I took a photo using the Apple camera, at 48 megapixels using Apple raw max, this was imported into Lightroom, mobile on the phone, uploaded to the cloud and back down to my Mac air laptop. It appears on the Mac air as a DNG file, as normal for me, but there is an error message saying that my normal Adobe landscape profile was not available on this system, and the profile showed as Apple color and Adobe landscape was not available in the options. Any idea what's happening here?

As a subsidiary question, will the Lightroom camera app be updated to be able to use the various focal length of the iPhone 15 Pro, and will it be able to take photos at 48 megapixel, or is that some clever apple processing that prevents that?

Greetings,

sorry I can't provide much information... the iPhone 15 has been released but as of now there is no update of Lightroom with native support for it. In a few weeks there ought to be updates to coincide with Abode Max next month.
Adobe doesn't announce when and what's included but it's a pretty safe bet the updates will include more on the 15.

As for the 48mp setting .. that will depend on Apple is my guess.

So, we might expect to see profile support for the iPhone 15 series within the next couple of weeks? I've been shooting RAW, but my go-to presets need the updated profiles.

I recently made a vacation in the United States where I almost exclusively used my Google Pixel 7 Pro for photography. Being a RAW aficionado I photographed in JPG & RAW - and good that I did so, because the JPG engine of the Pixel tends to oversharpen pictures much too aggressively.

But developing the Pixel 7 Pro's DNGs in Camera Raw (through LR Classic/Photoshop in their current versions) I ran into a lot of unexpected problems:

I. No really matching color profiles

From the available color profiles the

1. Adobe standard ones are flat and blow out highlights;

2. A profile named "Google Pixel" that is available in the "Profiles" section of the profile browser (and was not made by me neither imported from anywhere else) matches the OOC JPGs best in terms of tonalities, but produces a strong color shift (e.g. green tinge on blue skies);

3. A profile named "Google Embedded Camera Profile" that can be found in the "Older Version" section of the profile browser renders highlights correctly, but darkens all the rest of the picture.

4. All four profiles handle distortion correction differently to the OOC JPG.

II. No possibility to add custom color profiles

I've documented that particular problem in this thread: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/custom-made-x-rite-colorchecker-dcp-profiles-don-t-show-up-in-lightroom-classic-12-4/m-p/13911688#M327970

So I really would like an update on the Color Profiles / Distortion Correction concerning the Google Pixel 7 Pro and its four cameras. As it is all available profiles provide are not a very enjoyable starting point for PP, and it definitly isn't possible to match the color response of the Pixel to my other cameras via creating custom color profiles (see II.)

I attach two examples illustrating my point: You'll find two series (#1.1-1.4 and 2.1-2.4) of images. Each series shows renditions of the same Pixel 7 Pro (main rear camera) DNG with the profiles "Adobe Standard" (1.1/2.1), "Google Embedded Camera Profile" (1.2/2.2) and "Google Pixel" (1.3/2.3) applied. The fourth images of each series (1.4/2.4) shows the OOC JPG the Pixel 7 Pro provides alongside the DNG. If you compare the OOC JPG to the three DNG renditions you see that the "Google Pixel" profile comes closest to it - but the color shift (to green) in the sky of the DNG rendition is unmistakable. You also can see the difference in distortion correction.

Hello, I have a Hasselblad X2D. When I import 3FR files in Lightroom CC the profile that is applied is "camera standard" which is not recognized by the mobile versions of LCC. The whole point of the camera is better color management, so I hope I can keep using these profiles, or else I will need to move to using Phocus...

When is Adobe going to get off their butts and add the missing profiles for the Fujifilm X-T5.  Classic neg, Nostalgic Neg and one other I don't care about bleach bypass is/are still missing from camera matching profiles.  They are all available in Fufi X Raw Studio and Capture One 23 so get with it Adobe.  Please! It's been a month already. How long does it take to re-write a string of code? PS, I've been a sub to the Adobe plan for years now.  First time I've ever been disappointed.

How do I create a camera profile for a Fujifilm X-T5 camera tp be able to use it in Lightroom Classic?

You can use the DNG Profile Editor to create your own camera-raw profiles:

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/digital-negative.html#DNGProfileEditorSeptember2012

Support for a new camera from a leading manufacturer typically comes in the LR release following the release of the camera or, less frequently, the second following release.  A new version of LR comes out about every 8 weeks, so we might expect to see LR 12.1 in a week or two. (I have no inside information on this, and Adobe never announces such things ahead of time.)

Oddly, while the X-T5 was released After LrC v12.0 was released, the X-T5 is supported. Yep, not normal, but it occured.

Hello,  I used to edit all my raw images taken with my DJI Air2S drone using the color profile "Adobe Lanscape".  This was a very helpful starting point and made my drone photos really pop.  I have sinced moved on to the Mavic 3 and with my RAW/DNG images, I am only able to choose from Color/Monochrome color profiles.  I called customer service and they stated that they cannot help me download a plug-in to add that color profile to the Mavic 3 images.  It would need to be a app updated that allows us to use it.  Please Adobe, allow us to use "Adobe Landscape" color profile with our Mavic 3 and Mini 3 pro raw drone photos.
