Announcing a new feature now in Adobe Camera Raw (17.2) – Removal of Distracting People

Under the Remove dialog, under Distraction Removal, we have added an item called “People”.

This feature supports faster and easier detection and removal of distracting people in an image. It is offered as a Tech Preview in the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin-only and is available now. Please try it out and let us know what works well, what doesn’t work well, and anything that might improve the experience.

Thank you!

I love it!  I've spent so much time editing people in the background out of my photos.

This makes my editing so much easier.

Het werkt ook op dieren, op een foto stond een koe er half op en ik dacht ik probeer het even, en ja hoor , geweldig mooi verwijderd. Ik ben er blij mee.

Not liking the swapping of people for other ones. Nor the weird transormations they sometimes get. Or sometimes being replaced by "other" animals. Or replaced by other but smaller ones. Have to resort to old fashioned methods. I really do not want to pay credits for these "solutions".

Same here. Have used this feature a few times with good success. Today the first time that instead of removing people it swaps them for other people. Why would one want to do that?

I applied the Remove Distraction (People) function to this photo. Sadly, this is the result with most of the photos I have tried using this feature with. When it actually works, it's great, but most of the time, it doesn't work. Try training it to remove portions of people, and backs of people.

This is still really wonky. Mostly, it fails to remove the people in the photo, or at best, only removes those in the distance; not those in the foreground. Sometimes it tells you o people have been dtected, when the photo is full of people.

I only wanted to remove one person on the edge of the frame. The one of the edge of the frame was only a partial part of the person. It correctly  identifed 4 people in the photo, I deleted the other 3 I wanted to keep in and it removed the one on the edge of the frame really well.

Select the one you don't want to remove then click the trash can below where you select the remove tool, it will remove them from the selected areas.

It's done a good job on my photos of scenic monuments, historical sites, etc. But it leaves a blank white spot where a crowd was standing. Probably too big of a space to fill in with AI. And it occasionally leaves behind a single individual that I would like to send to  wherever the others went but I don't know how to do it
