Photoshop 27.8, Bridge 16.0,3 on both AMD and Apple silicon Remove tool does not work.

In camera raw you can highlight and removed ares and all seems to be OK . When finished and you touch “done” all of the areas reappear in the finished image. If you reopen in RAW all removed areas disappear again but when the you touch “done” again the same happens and all areas reappear.

This problem is for me showstopper and all photo processing has stopped until I can get this fixed

Bridge is notoriously unreliable with cloud based services. Adobe state plainly that this is not supported and that Bridge is designed for stand alone usage with local storage, no cloud, no networking, no NAS systems.

Can you try, if you haven't already, some test shots straight from your camera and loaded onto your local hard drive without ever touching any of the above?

I have downloaded some files from the camera directly to a file on the HD and the result is exactly the same. I really hoped that this would bring something.

Sorry, but I am now at a loss with this issue. I think we agree that the issue is with Bridge not reading the DNG files correctly rather than Camera Raw. I think I would post again in the Bridge Forum under Discussions rather than Bugs - more people will see it that way. Include details of your system and software versions mentioning that all seems well when tested under the  Windows system. Hopefully someone else will respond and you may receive confirmation that you are not alone in this.

Best wishes and Good Luck.

I downloaded your image and viewed on my system. Without even opening Camera Raw, Bridge generated a preview and the lampost and people were gone as per your edits. In other words all works as expected. So something is afoot here.

How do you have your Camera Raw Preferences set for DNG handling? Like this:

I always have the the sidecars handling option set to embed XMP in DNG then there are no sidecar files to worry about. Some people have been know to move files about outside of Bridge and then the associated sidecars are lost and no edits are seen by Bridge. Check your settings and see if this might be the issue whereby Bridge is not seeing your edits.

I have the option set to Embed XMP in DNG for the same reason you do. I have checked that this is still set

I have tried saving the edited image as a JPEG directly from Camera Raw and the image is saved as a JPEG successfully as edited. So the problem appears to be that bridge is not reading the XMP file correctly.

Once again thanks for your support

Since you are using DNG files with XMP embedded, there are no XMP files for Bridge to read since all the data is stored withing the DNG container. Yet somehow your Bridge is not reading the DNG file correctly whereas my system does.

The only remaining option I can suggest is resetting your Bridge Preferences which can cure a host of issues. Even reinstalling Bridge is not going to do this since the Prefernces File is not deleted during a reinstall unless you use Adobe’s CC Cleaner Tool to remove everything.

If you simply decide to reset Bridge Preferences, make sure you make a note of things you have set up as you will lose a lot of settings. Don’t forget to backup your keywords too. Here is how to do this in case you are not familiar:

Can you share a problem file using Dropbox or similar. You can post a link here. I can try on my system to see if the problem is system specific. Mind you, I am a Windows user, so there is another factor in the mix.

Here is the file. The edit removed the people and lampost.

After exiting Camera Raw, how are you then viewing your edited images? Are you using Adobe Bridge? If so, try selecting a problem image or images and purge cache for those images. Does that make any difference?

Thank you for the reply. I am being the image in Bridge but Purging the cache makes no difference. I have installed previous issues of PS and BR and the problem is the same. I cannot revert to an earlier version of Camera Raw however as it is a plug in.

What image type are you editing in Camera Raw?
