Photoshop CS5 update vs. CC subscription: Why MUST I subscribe? [Unable to open Nikon D750 Raw files in CS5]

I bought Photoshop CS5 extended a few years ago for a lot of money. Recently, I bought a Nikon d750 and now I can't open any raw photos. I am unable to update my Photoshop and am told I HAVE to subscribe to the new product on Creative Cloud if I want to open my raw images. Why should I pay for a product I already paid for? I'm willing to pay for the upgrade, but don't want to subscribe. Does anybody know where I can do this?

You can download and use the free DNG Converter to convert your D750 files to DNGs, which will open in CS5.

No one is forcing you to do anything, but there are consequences to choices one makes.  There is no upgrade for CS5, what you bought is what you get.  There are no updates to make older software work like new software - if there were there would be no new software.  If you want to be able to use your older software then you need to use older equipment to match it.  If you want to use new equipment then you should expect to buy new software to support it.
