Photoshop keep crashing if i revert my camera raw to older version

Hi, sorry to bother, recently i decided to updated my photoshop to the 2023, and even try the beta, but having difficulties to the complex hud of the "new" camera raw, i used to work fine with the 12_2_1. I tried to revert my current version to it but at this point Photoshop 2023 and even the Beta format doesn't work. Do you know if there's a way or I'm just stucked with the new version? I have big difficulties to adapt to the interface.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

Unfortunately Camera raw 12.x no longer work with the photoshop 2023 versions. Indeed it crashes.
This means I'll not upgrade to any newer photoshop version - the new camera raw with Lightroom interface consistently is around 40% slower for photo editing. New camera raw versions and their inefficient lightroom interface style can't be made to work as fast. Everything takes around double the amount of clicks, things I frequently use are hidden behind menus, settings, buttons and scrolling.

It's an absolute mistake on the part of Adobe to have ditched the previous RAW interface - their main reason being that there is interoperability for Lightroom users. They can easier upgrade to Photoshop that way. Sadly Adobe sacrified hardcore ACR users (I assume we were a significantly smaller % of users).

I've read there is a way to script the simple movement of the old and new plugin in/out the folders, so you would just need to restart photoshop and change the photoshop version to work the way you want. I'm even thinking of running a 2021 photoshop in a virtualised window (just for ACR), and a full recent photoshop natively. Shouldn't cost a significant performance penalty, as I have 64gb memory. CPU and GPU are near native in virtual machines these days.

I had the same doubt about using the old photoshop, but the new beta with the ai is a life saver with the automatic fill / simple edits who would take twice the time. I really hope they try to release a compromise and give up all the menu who really confuse and slow an already nicer program than lr. But as you said, adobe don't want to disappoint the lr users even if lr and ps are sold like two different products.

From some experimentation awhile back it looks like you need Photoshop 2021/Bridge 2021 or older to use an older camera raw interface plugin like 12.2.1 on Windows.

Thanks, i had the same impression sadly. Hope they will try some change in the hud, if i want to work with this sort of hud i would directly use lr since is pretty the same now.

I tried to install the old hud version, the 12_2_1 but ps keep crushing if i have it installed. The problem is, if there's a way to make it work.
