Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) - A plugin for Photoshop (software) that renders proprietary raw files visible for editing in Photoshop.

Many Cameras produce proprietary raw image files (NEF, CR3, ARW, etc) that require rendering software to enable editing. (eg. ACR, Lightroom, and others)
