Recovery Slider

Hi,

This may be a bit outdated, but what-ever happend to the recovery slider in CR 7? It has obviously been replaced but what has come in it's place.

I've recently upgraded fron CR7 to CR 14.x

You really, really don't want or need it any longer, you really want to use a more modern Process Version which will do a much better job of highlight recovery using the current sliders (start with Exposure and move down from there). If you update the images from an older PV, the color appearance may change a bit, but you'll have much better control over this recovery and far more.

    Your old Camera Raw used process version 2 from 2010, Camera Raw 14 uses process version 5.

    "Process version is the technology that Camera Raw uses to adjust and render photos. Depending on which process version you use, different options and settings are available to you in the Basic tab and when you make local adjustments."

     

    Process version 3 (2012) introduced several changes to the Basic panel.

    Recovery and Fill light were replaced (roughly speaking) with Highlights and Shadows.

    A Whites slider was added, and the Brightness slider was removed.

    Other features have also been added since version 2, and version 5 does a much better job of rendering images.

     

    You can, if you wish, choose an older process version in the Calibration tab in Camera Raw.

    If you open an image that has been processed with an older process version, a triangle with an exclamation mark will appear next to the bottom right corner of the image. Click the triangle to update to the current process version.
