Question

Takes two goes to open an image

I only use ACR.  Don't use LR.  I pre-edit in ACR and then click "open" and the file opens in PS.  Well it used to.  Since the latest update it now does nothing.  So I have to go back to it in Bridge and click on it again, and then it re-opens it in ACR and then when I click on "open" the second time, the image opens in PS.  WHY???

It's super frustrating.  Never had this issue before.  What has happened?

I have just spent all afternoon on the IT chat function talking to at least 10 different guys.  Gave 3 of them access to my computer and no one seems to know what the issue is.

I can open jpgs.  I can open raw files as long as I don't apply a mask.

We have done everything there is to do over the chat function.  Uninstalled.  Re-installed.  checked everything.  I don't think the issue is with me or my computer.  I think it's a bug. Never had this issue before the latest update.

Using Adobe Bridge?

You keep asking that.  I know you want to blame the issue on Bridge but it's ACR that is at fault.  Bridge works fine.  Even ACR works fine as long as I don't mask anything.  And since the newest version of ACR added masking functions particularly around the curves adjustment, it makes logical sense that the issue is with ACR.

To be clear; Camera Raw can be used, hosted by either Bridge or Photoshop. Yes, ACR renders the raw and you finish in Photoshop but you can start in either as it's host. Many users are reporting problems only when using Bridge as the host. Not PS. So the issue is apparently Bridge.

I did see other people having the same issue.  My workflow has just always been Bridge then ACR then PS.  Been that way for well over a decade.  I'm sure Adobe will get a fix sorted before long.

I actually just opened a .jpg with no issue so it might just be RAW files.  Not sure.  I'm sure they will get it sorted eventually.  It's the price you pay for doing the update on the day of release.

Did you find any answers to this?  I am having the same issue and can not figure this out.

So if you don't use Bridge at all, just host ACR through Photoshop, it's OK?
If so, it's a Bridge issue and you should report this on the Bridge forum so that team sees this.
Others have reported ACR with Bridge issues over the last few days.

Sorry for not explaining properly.  Yes I use Bridge.  What I meant was I only use Bridge and ACR not LR (as most people do).

I use Bridge to catalogue and select what I want to process and then take an image into ACR, do my pre-edit and then open in PS.  But it's not opening in PS.

But again, this issue only happens with Bridge but not Photoshop directly? If so, it's a Bridge bug. Please let the Bridge team know over at the Bridge forum.
