Toggle Preview Undoes All My Changes!

Since I have upgraded to the newest version of Camera Raw, one things has become very frustrating/annoying:

 

After making all kinds if changes to a photo, I will hit the P key to do a qucik before and after preview, but half the time, hitting P just eliminates everything I did! When I hot the key again, I get the "nope" sound. It is acting as if I have just opened the image again.

 

Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a bug? Is it user error? Is there something about the new Camera Raw I'm not understanding?

 

I'm on MacOs Catalina 10.15.6. CR version 12.3.0.493

Yeah, I'm on Windows and have only used that feature a couple of times. Found it to be quite buggy so I haven't used it anymore. I think they have a lot of polishing to do.
