Unable to open camera raw files

I work in Camera raw, through Bridge in Creative Cloud. I easily edit my raw files from my current Canon 7D mark II camera. However, I can not work in a number of images in an old folder with raw and jpg images taken with an old Canon 60D - neither preview in Bridge nor open in Camera raw. When I try to open in camera raw I get the error message "The Camera Raw settings could not be applied because there were no camera raw files or the selected files were disk protected". After a while, the option to even open in Camera raw disappears. This applies to both files in jpg, raw and mov from this folder. Grateful for help!

Hello again! I have spoken to Apple support and the files are permanently damaged unfortunately, for unclear reasons. Thankfully, I had an old copy in the cloud. Thanks anyway for the help.

I don't think your files are necessarily damaged. I just noticed this problem too. Turns out the problem was that the folder I had the files in had a ? at the end of it. Removing the ? from the folder name solved my problem. Go figure. So check if you have any weird symbols in the folder name, or the file name for that matter. I'm also on a Mac and opening Canon .CR2 files.

And if you have Photoshop host ACR, it works or doesn't?

Any chance you're on an M1 processor?

What versions of everything do you have? Where are these files located? If you copy them to your desktop, do they work? Can you open them in Apple Preview?

I'm working on a Macbook Pro 2021 and have been doing them lately

available updates for Creative Cloud and Camera raw. When I try to copy the files (located on an external hard drive) to my disk drive, I get the following error message:

Finder could not complete the operation because some information in "jpg" could not be read or written.

(Error code -36)

Error -36 is end of file which means they are corrupted.
