Unable to open Camera Raw--Workaround

I installed Photoshop CC 20.0 last week on 2 Windows 10 x64 computers. Before doing so I completely uninstalled Photoshop CS6, and ran the cleaner tool.

Photoshop and Bridge installed fine, but I could not open dngs, tifs or jpgs in Camera Raw 11. I spent 48 hours trying every sensible suggestion I found online; nothing worked.

Today I downloaded Camera Raw 9.12.1.790, of Aug 2017, and installed it. Camera Raw now functions on both computers. (Version 10.5 didn't work.)

I have posted this because a number of people have had my problem and been unable to solve it. However, it is only a workaround. When will this problem be addressed properly?
